Finland's mythic metallers Finntroll have announced some important info about their upcoming album – including a sudden title change – as well as their 2010 North American tour. The trolls have dug deep into their musical arsenal for what promises to be their most varied and complex album ever... so gird your loins and venture in for more news.
The band announced this week that the album formerly known as Mot Skuggornas Värld will now be named Nifelvind, and is officially targeted for release next February via Century Media, eventually reaching North American shores by March 9th.
The band is very pleased with the results of their labors, as they declared in their press release: “Nifelvind is the most advanced and mature Finntroll album to date,” they proclaim, “with musical themes ranging from powerful death metal riffs to dark soundtracks, from pounding black metal to groovy 80's pop music.” The band assures that this unusual stew of ingredients will be tied together by their trademark sound, and spiced with instrumentation “never before heard” by metal aficionados.
The band will also be setting out on a 20-venue North American “Finnish Metal” tour next spring, along with Moonsorrow, Swallow the Sun and Survivors Zero. The tour will kick off in Springfield, VA on April 6th, and continues through May 1st.
More info, including the complete Nifelvind track listing and the full tour itinerary, is now available via Finntroll’s official MySpace, and soon they’ll be unveiling the final album artwork, done as usual by the band’s guitarist Skrymer… and hopefully some choice sample tracks.
