Gale Anne Hurd Goes From Zombies to Aliens

Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer of AMC's zombie powerhouse The Walking Dead, is getting abducted by aliens. With her Valhalla Entertainment production company, she is developing a project called Area 51, based on a book by Annie Jacobsen called Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base. So yes, it's an alien show. Get more details after the jump.

According to Deadline.com, Area 51 "will follow two men working on the base who are thrust into danger when they uncover secrets that the government will protect at any cost." The pilot is being written by Karl Gajdusek, whose previous projects include the film Trespass and the TV series Dead Like Me.

Supposedly Jacobsen's book, which interviews 19 men who served at the base, and another 55 who "had links" to Area 51, discusses more recent the secret projects at Area 51, such as nuclear weapons and supersonic jets. But Area 51 will always be known as home to the little grey men, so I would be highly surprised if aliens weren't introduced into this pilot.

The script is expected to make he Hollywood rounds after Thanksgiving.
