This one took me by surprise. Los Angeles's premiere comic book shop, Golden Apple Comics, is being sold - on eBay, no less. If you have ever wanted to be a comic book shop owner, there is truly no better place to own than Golden Apple. An institution in Los Angeles, Golden Apple has been family-owned since 1979, when the shop first opened on Melrose Avenue. Owner Sharon Liebowitz and her son have decided to retire, and are looking to sell. More details after the break.
With the sale, you are getting over $300,000 in inventory, all online presence, the building and current lease, store fixtures and point-of-sale units, and of course, the Golden Apple name. Every name in comic books, comic movies, animation, and other geek and genre fields have either shopped here or held events here.
The owners are asking $679,000 for the business. Head over to eBay to check out more details on the sale and bid.
