After a five-year hiatus, gore-metal pioneers Exhumed have achieved successful re-animation. The slumbering beast has risen again for more horror-based death/grind mayhem, in the form of a new album – the currently untitled follow-up to the band's notorious 2003 release Anatomy is Destiny. In a new blog entry, the California-based “gore-tet” (I can't take credit for that term, it was their idea) have revealed their master plans for the coming year – of which the forthcoming album is just the beginning – and turn to their fans for further inspiration. More news awaits below...
Exhumed co-founder, guitarist and vocalist Matt Harvey has reunited with bassist/vocalist Leon DelMuerte, guitarist Wes Caley and drummer Danny Walker to start writing new material, which they intend to assemble into a complete album by spring 2011. The target release date is timed to coincide with the band's already-planned return to the stage at Maryland Deathfest, with a summer/fall 2011 world tour to follow immediately afterward. No word yet as to whether their previously-scrapped plans for a live DVD will also rise again... time will tell.
“I'm totally fuckin' psyched,” Harvey exclaimed. “I feel rejuvenated and ready to hack, maim and kill once again.” He clarified that the reunion is not for the sake of nostalgia, but to simply pick up where the band creatively left off... which he said happened almost immediately after he called up the rest of the crew, and they began collaborating over the past few months.
“We're all really excited about the new shit,” he continued. “It should combine the directness of [2000 release] Slaughtercult and the intricacy of Anatomy... so it's definitely gonna be our strongest record yet.”
The band is already reaching out to their fans to help them pick out songs for their Deathfest setlist, so if you want to offer your suggestions, visit the band's aptly-named official blog, GoreFuckingMetal.
