Gotham City Impostors, Monolith and WB Games' multiplayer shooter set in Batman's hometown, was originally supposed to launch last month. However, I guess rendering greasepaint and grappling hooks takes a little longer than even the developers expected, so it was pushed back. However, a press release issued today from WB Games announced that the title finally has a solid release date: February 7th. More after the break.
Gotham City Impostors certainly has us intrigued, with its sillier take on the Dark Knight. Instead of playing the Batman himself, players are set up in gangs called the Bats and the Jokerz, who basically get into turf wars when the Caped Crusader is off dealing with bigger issues, like villains escaping from Arkham Asylum for the zillionth time. It's a pretty ballsy departure for the brand, although it's also a return to roots for developer Monolith, who developed the kooky 1960's spy romp No One Lives Forever prior to launching the F.E.A.R. series.
However, Xbox 360 players need to wait an extra day to experience the mayhem, as the Wednesday launch schedule that the platform follows means that Gotham City Impostors will launch on February 8th.
Gotham City Impostors will launch February 7th on Playstation Network and PC and February 8th on Xbox Live.
