Want to see films like Maniac Cop 2, Evil Dead, Cannibal Holocaust and The Beyond on the big screen? Then read on, because our friends over at Grindhouse Releasing and Blue Underground are giving these and other fan-favorites the big screen treatment!
First up is the Housecore Horror Film Festival, which is taking place in Austin, Texas this weekend - running today through Sunday, the 27th. Put together by former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo and true crime author Corey Mitchell, the festival will feature screenings of films both new and old, and Grindhouse Releasing is bringing a host of 35mm prints to this year's event. In addition to all of the other excitement taking place at the festival, including a haunted attraction and live music, prints of Evil Dead, Cannibal Holocaust (with director Ruggero Deodato in attendance!), The Beyond, Maniac and Pieces will be exhibited, to name just a few.
You can find a full listing of screenings, and learn more about the event, over on the Housecore Horror Film Festival website.
Hot on the heels of their Blu-ray releases of Maniac Cop 2 and Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence - both of which will be available on November 19th - Blue Underground will be bringing Maniac Cop 2 back to the big screen for a limited theatrical run, beginning on November 1st. The restoration of William Lustig's sequel features a brand-new HD transfer from the original camera negative, and a new Dolby Digital 5.1 mix.
The screenings continue through the 29th of November, and states including California, New York, Texas and Missouri will be given the right to remain silent... forever. You'll find full theatrical listings over on Blue Underground's website.
