Today's Leap Day – the one holiday that doesn't have a horror movie devoted to it. To correct that situation, we've asked each and every FEARnet employee to submit a pitch for a FEARnet film they would make that's based on, inspired by, or entitled 'Leap Year'. Our next proposal comes from Jenn Wexler. Check it out below.
Kaylee and Samantha are best friends. They met their first week of college and formed an immediate bond. They know everything about each other-- well, almost everything. Kaylee's only mentioned her family curse in passing, during a night of heavy drinking that she's sure Samantha's forgotten. She didn't go into detail about how on the anniversaries of their births, the females of her family are receptive to the dead. She never mentioned that all her life, birthdays weren't something to be celebrated, but to be dreaded. And she certainly never told her that—because she was born on a leap year—the dead's power over her is four times the strength than it is over her family members. This lack of communication is why Samantha just can't understand Kaylee's resistance to celebrating her 20th birthday—her first actual birthday in four years. Wanting to show her the best birthday ever, Samantha ignores Kaylee's request to be left alone and wrangles some friends into kidnapping her just before midnight. Kaylee, tied up and blindfolded, is taken to the sorority house basement, where she finds—to her dismay--a party all for her. As the clock approaches twelve, she begs them not to untie her. But it doesn't matter. The force with which the dead conquer her body is enough to break any bonds. This is their chance to have revenge on the living, and they'll use Kaylee's body as their tool. Her birthday will go down as the most killer party ever.
