After building a dedicated underground following with their haunting electronic soundscapes – which reached a new level of madness in their 2009 album The Sick are Not Healing – indie band I, Parasite are celebrating fifteen years of twisted creativity (and growing success) with the release of their early demo materials, live recordings and other previously unreleased rarities. The latest collection, entitled Assorted Debris II, is slated for release this week. Go below for more info...
Formed in New York in 1996, the band has seen many lineup changes over the past decade and a half, but the original founder Christopher Jon and long-time collaborator Justin Butts were the force behind their debut record Turin. Since then, Jon and his compadres have worked with prominent dark experimental bands like Android Lust, and supplied eerie electronic elements to Cradle Of Filth's album Thornography.
Assorted Debris II, which makes its debut this Friday, covers the band's output from 2002 to 2007, and the previous compilation covers their first five years. Between the two, you can hear the evolution from dark ambient music to the harsher industrial metal vibe that rocked The Sick are Not Healing.
For a taste of things to come, the band is offering the free track "Angel Dust" from Assorted Debris II at their official site.
