Distribution company Tidepoint Pictures announced they will be releasing the experimental Japanese vampire film Sanguivorous (a.k.a. Kyuketsu) on DVD and On Demand this month.
Written and directed by Naoki Yoshimoto, the critically-acclaimed 2008 production is being called “the first Japanese avant-garde, silent vampire movie ever made,” incorporating Butoh dance techniques with the haunting imagery of silent horror cinema. The plot involves a young woman who is shocked to discover that her mysterious physical ailments are the result of her vampire heritage, and soon becomes afraid that her growing bloodlust will endanger the life of her boyfriend.
Sanguivorous premieres on DVD and VOD Tuesday, November 19th. Check out the spooky trailer...
