Keri Russell to Explore Scott Stewart's 'Dark Skies'

We just received word that the ever-adorable Keri Russell will star in Dark Skies for Dimension Films, microbudget horror producer Blumhouse Productions, and director Scott Stewart (Priest, Legion). Below is the official press release:

Blumhouse Productions (INSIDIOUS, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, SINISTER) and Dimension Films announced today that Keri Russell (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III, WAITRESS, AUGUST RUSH) will star in the upcoming supernatural thriller DARK SKIES, written and directed by Scott Stewart (PRIEST, LEGION). Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions are producing the film alongside Alliance Films which will fully finance the picture. Russell is represented by WME and managed by The Burstein Company.

As previously announced, Dimension Films will distribute the film in the U.S. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Alliance Films’ Charles Layton will executive produce. Alliance Films will distribute in Canada, in the UK (via its Momentum Pictures subsidiary) and in Spain (via Aurum). Octane, IM Global’s genre division, is handling international rights.

The film is scheduled to go into production this summer with the logline currently being kept under wraps.

“Scott has written a terrifying script and Keri is the perfect actress to help bring his vision to the big screen,” said Jason Blum. “Blumhouse is excited to work with Dimension and Alliance on sharing Dark Skies with fans across the world.”

DARK SKIES is the latest film from Blumhouse Productions, which has pioneered a new model of studio filmmaking- producing high-quality micro-budget films for wide release like INSIDIOUS and the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY franchise. Premiering later this year is SINISTER, written and directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Ethan Hawke for Lionsgate/Summit and Paranormal Activity 4 for Paramount Pictures.
