Back in October, we posted the new single "Trip the Darkness" from world-renowned gothic rockers Lacuna Coil, with the promise of more to come... and now it's here, in the form of a surreal new video. It's more than a little bit creepy too, since sultry vocalist Cristina Scabbia switches back and forth between her lovely raven tresses and a Lady Gaga-style white wig, accessorized with bushy silver eyebrows and zombie-pale contacts for her onscreen alter-ego. Even if you listened to the single earlier, now's your chance to experience it in a completely new way. Hit the jump and check it out!
"Trip the Darkness" is the first single from Dark Adrenaline, the band's follow-up to their successful 2009 release Shallow Life. The project was helmed by famous producer Don Gilmore, whose studio credits include albums by Bullet For My Valentine, Linkin Park and Good Charlotte. Scabbia declares this project is "the best work we have ever done... the victorious sum of fifteen years of experiences."
"Trip the Darkness" is the story of "facing your darkest hours without fear," a theme that Scabbia says runs throughout the album. "We realized that the lyrics were about sadness, rage and anger, but also power, self esteem and excitement."
Along with the new single, Dark Adrenaline will feature titles like "Kill the Light," "End of Time," "Fire" and a cover of R.E.M.'s classic "Losing My Religion." The album is set for release on January 24th in several different editions including a limited-run box set containing the CD & vinyl versions, a hardcover photo book, a set of lithographs signed by the band and tons of other nifty swag.
