Late last month, we rolled out tons of cool details about the long-awaited sixth studio album Dark Adrenaline from Italy's chartbusting gothic rockers Lacuna Coil. Now the band has made the album's first single "Trip the Darkness" available to hear online. The single also features some wicked cool cover artwork, which you can check out after the jump, along with the song itself. Take a look and a listen...

Dark Adrenaline, the follow-up to the band's successful 2009 release Shallow Life, was helmed by famous producer Don Gilmore, whose studio credits include albums by Bullet For My Valentine, Linkin Park and Good Charlotte. The band assures that the new project will deliver a "melodic, sensual, metallic rush."

"I feel this is the best work we have ever done," says frontwoman Cristina Scabbia, "and it absolutely captures the essence of who we are. The atmosphere of the record will make a lot of old-school fans very happy, and the newer fans will enjoy the vibrant energy and the dark blood running through the songs. I really believe Dark Adrenaline will wake you up."

In addition to the new single (also the opening track), the record will feature titles like "Kill the Light," "End of Time," "Fire" and what appears to be a cover of R.E.M.'s classic "Losing My Religion." Dark Adrenaline is set to drop on January 24th, but the band is already prepared to embark on a promotional "Darkness Rising" tour for the album later this month.

You can stream "Trip the Darkness" on the band's official Facebook page, but you can also hear the track right here...
