From a human being's point-of-view, the larva of the Hawaiian Eupithecia moth looks pretty much like any other fuzzy green caterpillar – the kind you see munching away on lettuce leaves in your mom's garden. But make no mistake: this guy is sooo not into vegetables. In fact, he's not only a meat-eater, he's a totally ruthless killing machine.

This species also knows a pretty cool trick: he lies still, looking pretty much like a twig, until an unsuspecting insect brushes against the trigger hairs on his back... which causes him to snap his body like a bullwhip and spear the victim with his spike-tipped legs.
