Kirk Hammett is a major horror collector. His collection includes such gems as rare Universal horror posters, a full-size model of Bela Lugosi, and a hand-painted latex mask inventory boasting the Creature from the Black Lagoon and Wolfman.
Very few people have seen the collection first hand, but all that is going to change when his coffee table book, Too Much Horror Business, hits shelves in October. “The book includes more than 300 images for which the guitar player wrote captions while he and the band toured the world. There is also a three-part Q&A with Steffan Chirazi, editor of Metallica's fan club magazine So What, detailing the lengths that Hammett has gone to acquire some of his prize pieces,” SFGate.com reports.
Hammett told SFGate he’s been collecting since he was six years old.
"My love for this stuff is insane and totally obsessive-compulsive," he said. "It's just one of those things. I'm still waiting to outgrow it or get tired of it or get bored with it. But it does not seem to happen."
