Adult Swim's splattery, head-banging animated comedy series Metalocalypse closed its fourth season with a cliffhanger... but the story will pick up in truly epic fashion this month with the historic special Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem A Klok Opera.
With an original score by series creator/executive producer Brendon Small and The Walking Dead's Emmy-winning composer Bear McCreary, the one-hour special will feature music by the flesh-and-blood incarnation of the band (including Small, legendary drummer Gene Hoglan, and Joe Satriani band members Bryan Beller & Mike Keneally), backed by a fifty-piece orchestra. The show will also include guest performances by Jack Black, Mark Hamill, Malcolm McDowell, and George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher of the band Cannibal Corpse.
“This is not like anything we've ever done,” Small announced. “I drew from all of my influences to make this the most unique project I could dream of.”
“I had a blast helping Brendon realize his vision for a fully-produced orchestral score to accompany his drop-tuned guitars and pounding double kicks,” says McCreary. “This opera takes his catchy songwriting to a whole new level, and I was thrilled to help out.”
Doomstar Requiem airs Sunday, October 27th at Midnight Eastern on Adult Swim, and the companion soundtrack album is slated for release on October 29th. Visit their site for more info... and be sure to check this clip too!
