A&E is really stepping up their pilot orders - their dark pilot orders. In addition to the Psycho "prequel" Bates Motel, the basic cabler has picked up a cast-contingent pilot called Occult.
Described as a blend of The X-Files and Fringe, Occult pairs two FBI agents, each with their own troubled backstories, to head up a newly created occult crimes unit. The show is said to be supernatural, not just bored kids dabbling in Satanic rituals.
It sounds an awful lot like The X-Files, and there may be a good reason for that: James Wong was a long-time writer/producer on The X-Files.
