Midnight Syndicate's 'The Dead Matter' Inspires Haunted Maze

If you look forward to Halloween as much as we do here at FEARnet (do we even need to ask?), chances are you've heard the music of Midnight Syndicate at least once – whether you're paying a visit to the costume shop, your local charity spookhouse or haunted hayride, maybe putting together your Halloween party playlist... or even popping their feature film The Dead Matter into your DVD player. Thanks to that movie, the band now has plenty of nightmarish visuals on hand to accompany their spooky soundscapes, so it's only natural that someone would eventually dig into that bag of tricks to create a new treat: the first Dead Matter-themed Halloween maze. Read on for details and find out where the outdoor action is this year!

Haunted Carter Farms in Princeton, Iowa, already known as one of the oldest and most elaborate cornfield mazes in the US (and listed by Haunted Attraction magazine as one of the Top 25 Halloween events), picked The Dead Matter as their theme for their five-acre attraction for Halloween 2011. The Dead Matter "Haunted Maize Maze" will blend the movie's promotional artwork and original props with music and sound effects from the Syndicate's companion CD Cemetery Gates to fully recreate the film's imagery – along with new original scenes created to flesh out (no pun intended) the movie story even further.

The maze is open every Friday and Saturday through October, plus Halloween night (Monday), from 7pm to 10:30pm. Admission is $12. You can check out Haunted Carter Farms' official site for directions.
