The Playstation Vita, Sony's portable powerhouse follow up to its PSP, is certainly coming right out of the gates with some fantastic titles. Well, you can add everyone's favorite blood-soaked brawler to the mix, as Mortal Kombat is slated to be released for the handheld. More info, courtesy of G4, after the break.
According to G4, Mortal Kombat for the PS Vita has been specifically designed for "on-the-go gaming" and boasts "brand new gameplay features and content developed exclusively for the Vita." What sort of tweaks need to be made to make MK more on-the-go friendly aren't being said, although there shouldn't need to be too many made given the Vita's virtually complete gamepad controls (although two shoulder buttons are lacking) and surprising power.
It appears from the game's cover art—appearing in a cropped version above—that all 4 of the original title's DLC characters will be available from the get-go, in addition to the Sony-exclusive Kratos from God of War. That, in addition to the to-be-named new features, means that this could quite possibly be the definitive version of Mortal Kombat…that you can play on the crapper. I'm sold.
Mortal Kombat for the Playstation Vita has a tentative release window of Spring 2012.
