MTV's 'Teen Wolf' Gets Hairy & Scary?

MTV promises that their upcoming Teen Wolf series will not be as cutesy as the original Michael J. Fox classic.  To prove their point, writer Jeff Davis and director Russell Mulcahy showed a few minutes of footage at Comic-Con.  Hit the jump for more details.

The couple minutes of footage screened were from the opening of the pilot, showing our new teen wolf Scott McCall (played by Tyler Posey) getting attacked by a werewolf in the woods.  It is action-y and "appropriately gritty for television."

KNB is handling the practical FX, and there will be three different kinds of werewolves, all with a different look.  The basketball team has been replaced with lacrosse.  And apparently whenever producers submitted footage to MTV, they requested it be "edgier."  So there is hope that MTV won't wimp out, but this is the network that brought you The Hills and hasn't played a music video in a decade, so don't hold your breath.
