Gloomy goth girls everywhere just might smile for a second or two today, following the realization that Finnish 'love metal' dreamboat Ville Valo and his band HIM have unveiled the official release date and artwork from their forthcoming studio album Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice. We've compiled those details and more below the fold, so clutch that embroidered 'heart-o-gram' pillow and read on...
Screamworks is the band's seventh studio project, and was recorded this fall in LA with producer Matt Squire (Panic at the Disco) manning the boards. According to Valo, the new album will be less moody and more direct and intense than their past work.
The enigmatic frontman recently told Metal Hammer that the new material is “the most sexual, the most horny” he's ever written. “You should have seen me working the vocals out in the middle of the night, amongst my taxidermy owls in the tower screaming my guts out,” he told the magazine. “The whole process of the album is very close to that mental boner that just didn't go away.”
Your reaction to that image probably depends a lot on how you feel about the man himself... but let's get back to the track list, shall we?
