Last week the 13-track album was recently previewed for the press in the German offices of Nuclear Blast Records, and the feedback has been quite positive, which bassist Marco Hietala said gave the band a feeling of "very good confidence... I think in many ways it's a brave album, reflecting what we really are and all the things that we want to do."

The band will reportedly play small roles in the film, but according to director Stobe Harju, the central characters are loosely based on the band members – even down to having anglicized versions of their real names: Anette, Tuomas, Marco, Emppu and Jukka are portrayed by the main cast as Ann, Tom, Marcus, Emil and Jack.

Imaginaerum the album is slated for North American release on January 10th  2012 (it actually comes out in the band's native Finland at the end of this month), and while the film's premiere date has not been finalized, the band and filmmakers are hoping to open it later next year.
