Aliens are so in right now. NBC has V. Sci-Fi has Warehouse 13. And soon, TNT will have Untitled Alien Invasion Pilot. The cable network, which has made deep inroads into the original programming market, is working on a pilot that is set on Earth, right after aliens have wiped out most of the human population. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Noah Wyle, of E.R. fame, is set to star as "the leader of a ragtag group of soldiers and civilians who struggle against the occupying alien force."
Producing the series is none other than Steven Spielberg, along with Robert Rodat, who wrote the pilot, as well as Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan. Producing team Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank (United States of Tara) round out the current staff. No word yet on who will direct, or when the show will air. Spielberg has a pretty good track record when it comes to aliens, so this could be pretty good. Then again, it could be SeaQuest DSV.
