As always, NECA remains horror central at the American International Toy Fair (going on this week in New York City) with their ongoing array of classic horror franchise action figures. At their booth this year, they were showing off their new A Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy figures, Jason figures from the Friday the 13th films and new additions to their Evil Dead line.
All the figures on display were in their detailed sculpture size, way bigger than their eventual 7-inch scale, and all are based on the in-house sculpting of a team led by NECA's Director of Product Development, Randy Falk.
NECA reps told us they just renewed the license for A Nightmare on Elm Street so their plan is to continue creating unique Freddy figures for each movie. 2012 will feature Freddy from A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child with an alternate scowling head and an infant Freddy accessory. They're also going back to create a new A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors Freddy with his syringe fingers and a cross-burned alternate head.
Most exciting is the new Freddy puppet from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors which has the pale faced creeper fully articulated and dangling from strings. Each Freddy will be available in September 2012.
Jason Voorhees fans will also be happy to know that the Friday the 13th films are also continuing at NECA with new 7" versions of Jason and full face masks from Friday the 13th: Part III and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter due in September 2012.
Lastly, Evil Dead fans will get a new Evil Dead II Ash (Bruce Campbell) this year with his chainsaw and a dismembered deer head to go along with basement babe Henrietta and her extra long neck attachment from 2012.
