Ozzy Gets Larger-Than-Life Tribute at Sunset Fest

The upcoming Sunset Strip Music Festival is paying tribute to the legendary Ozzy Osbourne as the fest's annual “Sunset Strip Icon.” Earlier this month the honor extended beyond the show itself to a massive 12-story billboard graphic on the 9000 Building in Los Angeles, one of the largest displays of its kind. The fest lineup is now finalized, so find out more below the fold...

The three-day SSMF event has traditionally celebrated the careers of influential musicians who have become part of the history of the Sunset Strip. In the case of Osbourne, his first US tour with Black Sabbath in 1970 included a five-night run at the famous Whisky A Go-Go.

Bands appearing at the Ozzy tribute include hard-rock supergroup Camp Freddy, Korn, Chris Cornell, Shiny Toy Guns, Fishbone, Kottonmouth Kings and many more – over 40 bands on two different stages as part of the outdoor “Street Fest.” More acts (including former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley) will appear in venues like the Whisky, The Roxy, the Key Club and the Cat Club.

The three-day festival begins on September 11th, but the gigantic visual tribute to Ozzy (shown above) is already on display on the 9000 Building, which faces The Roxy and the Rainbow Bar & Grill. For tickets and other info, check out the official SSMF website.
