It makes me feel pretty old to think that R.L. Stine's mega-popular Goosebumps series was launched over 20 years ago. I oftentimes credit the books for ushering me into a lifelong love of the horror genre, and though folks like Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees no doubt also played a role in that, it was largely kid-friendly tales like The Haunted Mask, One Day at Horrorland and Welcome to Camp Nightmare that made me realize I was a monster kid.
Started in 1992, a total of 62 books comprised the original Goosebumps line, which ran straight through 1997. Though various spin-offs continued afterwards, and still in fact continue to this day, it is those original 62 books that I have a real fondness for. And it is those original books that are paid tribute to in Monster Edition, a new fan-made zine that collects together artwork from over 40 international artists, who have all put their own unique spins on some of the most popular titles that R.L. Stine ever penned.
The 46-page full-color zine is now available for pre-order, for $20, and you can purchase a copy over in the Monster Edition web store. A limited edition combo pack is also available, for $35, which includes the zine as well as stickers, trading cards and an original Goosebumps book. Zines will begin shipping in January of 2014.
