Hammer Films's "Queen of Horror," Ingrid Pitt, has died of apparent heart failure in London. She was 73. More after the jump.
Pitt was best known as the seductive vampire in Hammer's The Vampire Lover and Countess Dracula. The Polish-born actress survived several years in a Nazi concentration camp during WWII, but went on to become a noted European stage actress.
Ingrid appeared in 25 films during a career that spanned four decades. Included among those are The Wicker Man, The House that Dripped Blood, Transmutations, and Octopussy. She also had a recurring role in Doctor Who.
