Genre actor Kevin McCarthy died on Sat at the age of 96. Known by many as the hero from the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), McCarthy had a lengthy career spanning more than 70 years. We've seen him in everything from Tales from the Crypt and Joe Dante's The Howling and Piranha (1978) to the less than memorable Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College.
For years McCarthy was a staple of the genre convention circuit, greeting fans and signing autographs. Even with his limited mobility while confined to a wheel chair we just saw McCarthy at Monsterpalooza earlier this year in Los Angeles where (as always) he seemed genuinely thrilled to meet and greet all who adored him. He will be missed.
