Former Rob Zombie guitarist and Scum of the Earth founder/frontman Mike Riggs – known for his blood-drenched, horror-themed stage shows – is making a new kind of "mark" in the entertainment world, as proprietor of the Branson, Missouri-based MONSTER TATTOO – a combination ink & body-mod parlor, monster movie museum, and heavy metal hall of fame. Yes, I did write Branson, Missouri, and no it's not a mistake. Dive below the jump to learn more!
Riggs opened the doors to the new establishment on April 26 to introduce the normally conservative Branson tourist crowd to what the press kit describes as "a way of life filled with lust, carnage and debauchery, cranium-cracking music, and infectious art brought on by some of the top tattoo artists in the business." According to the founder himself, the town's already coming around to embrace their raucous new arrival: "The neighbors and tourists are loving it so far," he declares.
To help him realize his dream, Riggs has assembled a talented tat-team, including celebrated ink artists like Rev. Tim Pontillo, Eden Draven and Crazy Joe McVeigh. Other special guest artists are scheduled to make appearances in the coming months. "This is not your average, boring, slapped-together-quick tattoo shop like the others here in town," says Pontillo.
The parlor will also be home to a vast collection of music and horror memorabilia, including celebrity guitars, movie monsters & props, and gold & platinum records. "The feel of the store is a rock ‘n' roll monster extravaganza," explained Riggs. "We took the time to make our shop stand out from the rest."
