As we inch ever closer to Halloween, the treats have been coming in hot and heavy here in the horror community. First we found out that Clive Barker would be writing Dimension's remake of Hellraiser, and then we learned that both Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi would be returning for Army of Darkness 2. As exciting as those two tasty bit of news were, not even they can hold a candle to the announcement that was made last night...
A special screening of Trick ' r Treat was held at Hollywood's Egyptian Theatre last night, with director Michael Dougherty, producer Bryan Singer and stars Dylan Baker, Quinn Lord and Brian Cox in attendance. After the screening, the cast and crew held a Q&A session, which is when the bombshell announcement was made that one of the most requested horror sequels of all time is at long last headed our way.
Sam himself appeared on stage during the Q&A, handing Doughtery a note that read "MAKE A SEQUEL!" Doughtery remarked that it's not his call, which prompted Legendary Pictures' founder Thomas Tull to stand up and chime in. "I can't say no to Sam," he said. "Let's make a sequel!"
With that nonchalant announcement, a Trick 'r Treat 2 graphic popped up on the big screen, and the crowd reacted the way they by all means should've - erupting into cheers and applause. A Halloween miracle? To say the least!
The Q&A was live-streamed on YouTube last night, and you can check out video of the full session below. Sam walks up on stage at around the 15 minute mark!
