Fortnite, the barely-revealed next game from Gears of War developer Epic Games, has announced its primary platform. Not Xbox 360, not PS3...but PC.
At the SDCC panel that Epic staged, they revealed that their fortress-building, zombie-repelling game (I spy a few similarities to Minecraft's DNA) will be built on top of their sexy-powerful new Unreal Engine 4, which can only be harnessed by the power of a top-notch gaming PC.
"Next-gen's here. It's been here. It's a high-end PC," was the sentiment that Epic Game's Cliff Bleszinski shared with the panel according to Joystiq, adding that the scale and scoped of the game didn't "make sense" for the now-aging Unreal Engine 3, which has been Epic's foundation since the first Gears of War.
While some console-jockeys may be upset at the decision, PC gamers are sure to be pleased that their platform of choice is getting more love now and in the future than it has in years, with exclusives like Diablo III and now Fortnite populating the platform.
