Thanks to the recent crazed antics of frontman Oderus Urungus, GWAR has been in the news a lot recently leading up to their upcoming release Lust in Space (now scheduled to street on August 18th), and given the costumed crew’s less-than-polite reputation, I think we can assume they’re not going away anytime soon… and frankly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Their latest grandstand move will take place at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, where the self-crowned “Scumdogs of the Universe” will be performing at the “Brütal Legend Metal Meltdown.” More vile and repulsive details await you after the jump!
To help promote the hotly anticipated upcoming release of Electronic Arts’ Jack Black-voiced video game Brütal Legend, GWAR will headline the “Metal Meltdown” with support by Three Inches Of Blood and Unholy Pink, along with a DJ set from Keith Morris. The show, which is scheduled to begin at Comic-Con on 9:30 pm July 23rd, is co-sponsored by EA and Vice Magazine, which Oderus praised for their excellent (bad) taste: “Vice Magazine has once again shown their true appreciation for life’s finest filth,” he declared. “We are pleased as pus to bring GWAR to the largest gathering of geeks and losers since the last time GWAR played there… which was never.”
In other news from the Slave Pit, the band also announced that Oderus would be making yet another appearance as “Intergalactic Correspondent” for FOX News’ late-night show Red Eye… this time reporting from the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where the monstrous mic-mangler has been reportedly “hanging out for no apparent reason.”
"Now that they [at FOX] have determined that I am capable of restraining myself from eating the other guests,” Oderus added, “I shall be reporting on what is undoubtedly the biggest collection of weirdos and degenerates since the last GWAR tour!"
