Sony Nabs 'Ghostbusters' Publishing Rights in Europe

American Xbox 360 and Wii fanboys, thank your deity of choice that you don’t live in Europe.  In an incredibly ballsy movie, Sony (holder of the Ghostbusters film IP) has taken over European publishing duties of the upcoming Ghostbusters: The Video Game from Atari.

According to the PS3 and PS2 versions of the game are still set to launch on June 19th alongside the Blu-Ray release of the film, but the Xbox 360 and Wii versions of the title have become victims of “timed exclusivity,” wherein Sony’s platforms get the game all to themselves for an undisclosed period of time.

"Atari is committed to maximizing the launch of the Ghostbusters videogame across Europe,” spun Atari VP of Worldwide Marketing Jim Wilson, "In partnership with both Sony Pictures Consumer Products and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, we have a unique opportunity to add new game products and expand marketing opportunities to reach Ghostbusters fans in Europe."

Again, I reiterate, this is currently only in effect for the European release.  If this spreads over to the US, and I am forced to spend the month of June without Batman or the Ghostbusters, there will be hell to pay.
