It's been seriously tough getting a story out on Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark... for a while there, it seemed like every time we turned around the show would replace half its cast and crew, change the music, push back release dates or add more previews. But maybe – just maybe – they might actually hit their new official Broadway opening of June 14th. One thing that does seem to be locked down is the original cast recording album, scheduled for release on the same date, with the first single making its digital debut this week. Hit the jump for more info about the album... and you should probably read fast, before something changes again.
According to Broadway.com, the Spider-Man original cast recording was produced by Grammy-winner Steve Lillywhite, who has worked with U2, Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel, Morrisey, 30 Seconds to Mars, Talking Heads and about a hundred others. The album – available in CD or download – will feature fourteen tracks, including the number "Rise Above," which has just been released as a single (titled "Rise Above 1"). The single features vocals from the show's star Reeve Carney, with music by U2's Bono and the Edge, who composed the music for the entire show.
Along with Carney as the title character and alter-ego Peter Parker, other cast members featured on the album include Jennifer Damiano as Mary Jane Watson, Patrick Page as Norman Oswald (and Green Goblin), T.V. Carpio as Arachne, Isabel Keating as Aunt May and Michael Mulheren as J. Jonah Jameson.
"Rise Above 1" is available now on iTunes.
