We've been following this story ever since last year's Comic-Con, when toy company Super7 revealed they would be resurrecting a series of Alien action figures, originally licensed by Kenner in 1979 but never released. We finally got to see the first line, as well as some other cool items, at this year's Wondercon (check out the images here), but now Super7 has announced that they will be unveiling even more Alien goodies exclusively at Comic-Con 2013 next month.
The SDCC exclusives include the Alien “ReAction” figures, including the Alien itself (aka “The Big Chap,” as nicknamed by Ridley Scott and crew) with removable transparent dome, extendable jaws and glow-in-the-dark head; Ripley with Flame Thrower; Ash with Motion Detector; Dallas with Flame Thrower; and Kane in Nostromo Spacesuit with removable helmet and transparent visor.
Fans who preorder the set of five ReAction Figures at Super7’s Comic-Con booth (#5245) will receive an Alien figures display stage (including original 1970s style artwork), a “Space Club” membership card and a set of Alien photos & stickers. This “Early Bird” package sells for $100, and the figures will ship late this year.
Also being offered is the “Alien Sales Samples” set, allegedly based on “canceled” demos for the 1979 Toy Fair (Super7 confessed they made that story up, but the packaging is still totally convincing). Each set retails for $40 and contains the Alien and Kane figures in unpainted “test” form.
They are also offering custom bases for the ReAction figures (one free just for signing up for their mailing list) and a free vintage-style ReAction figure catalog based on actual Alien toy promotional materials from 1979.
