Shock-rock god Alice Cooper was breaking new ground decades ago with his elaborate stage shows, and even now other horror-rock artists are still trying to top his game. But what do you do when audiences have seen everything? Well, Alice and company may have hit on a new twist by using today’s technology to capture every nuance of his ongoing Theatre of Death tour, and make it possible for fans to relive the experience instantly. Hit the jump and learn how you can slip Alice’s “stick” in your pocket after the concert... and no, it’s not something naughty. Get your mind out of the gutter!
Working with Concert Online and a high-tech mobile recording facility, Alice’s team is recording his shows, mixing and editing them on the fly using state-of-the-art equipment, and uploading them in high-quality MP3 format to 1-gig USB “concert sticks” which will then be available on location after each show – minus the encores, that is, which are uploaded to Concert Online the following day (the concert stick comes with a voucher to download the encores). This will enable fans to keep a permanent recording of the very same show they just attended, which is a really cool idea… hell, if you scream loud enough for the microphones to pick up, you might become part of Alice Cooper history yourself.
The next day, the same live recordings will also be available online for download at this link. From there, you can play the concert on any MP3 device or burn it to CD.
