We've got some new intel on who is boarding the pilot train for Fall 2012-2013.
Kevin Williamson's Untitled Pilot
I wish they would hurry up and name this project. This is the FBI-on-the-hunt-for-a-cult-of-serial-killers project from Scream scribe Kevin Williamson. Joining Kevin Bacon, who plays the lead FBI agent, and James Purefoy (Resident Evil) as the serial killer is Shawn Ashmore (Frozen, Mother's Day) and Valorie Curry (Twilight: Breaking Dawn). Ashmore will play a junior FBI agent assisting Bacon, and Curry plays the killer's nanny (well, the killer's child's nanny).
The "magical procedural" show set in New York recently landed Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine) to direct the pilot.
The other cult drama, set in Alaska, will be directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist, Session 9).
Untitled Roland Emmerich Drama
This "astrophysicist chosen to fight the powers of supernatural evil" drama landed Max Thieriot (My Soul to Take, and the upcoming House at the End of the Street) as the astrophysicist. Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers, but don't hold that against her) will play his girlfriend.
NBC's The Munsters reboot won't begin production until June because of "casting difficulties" (in other words, no one wants to attach themselves to the destruction of a beloved childhood property?).
The Erik Kripke/J.J. Abrams co-production, "a high-octane action drama following a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist," recently landed Jon Favreau to direct the pilot. With these genre power-players attached, I have very, very high expectations for this project.
The third cult pilot to be picked up already has its lead (Jessica Lucas, Cloverfield), who plays a production assistant on Cult, the show that is at the center of a rash of real-life differences. Joining her is Alona Tal (Supernatural) who plays the actress in show-within-a-show Cult.
While not quite genre, this modern day Sherlock Holmes tale did just land a face that will be familiar to genre fans. Jonny Lee Miller, who did a season of Dexter and is coming up in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, will star as Holmes.
