In a Buffy/Angel-type move, the “potential Vampire Diaries spin-off” reported a few weeks ago is definitely in the works. The role of Klaus’ protégé in The Originals has been filled by The Game’s Charles Michael Davis.

Details on the story from The Hollywood Reporter:

"In The Originals, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans, a town he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with his diabolical former protege Marcel (Davis). Described as fierce and bold, Marcel now calls the shots in New Orleans."

Daniel Gillies and Phoebe Tonkin will be back in their roles as Elijah and Hayley for this spinoff.
