We just learned from Blabbermouth that Canadian thrash icons Voivod have revealed the details of what they say will be their final studio album, which features songs recorded by band founder Denis “Piggy” D'Amour before his untimely death. Infini is scheduled for release this summer, and we've got plenty of info after the jump!
Coming three years after the band's well-received Katorz, this record is one of only two studio albums the band has recorded without direct input from D'Amour, who unfortunately passed away in 2005 from colon cancer.
Regardless, D'Amour's creative spirit is still present, since the album includes tracks he originally recorded in 2004 (Katorz also featured several songs based on demos the guitarist recorded but never completed). Guitar duties on Infini are handled by Dan Mongrain of Quebec band Martyr. Other contributors to the project include former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted.
The track list for the hour-long album – which is slated for North American release in July – includes the titles Earthache, Krap Radio, Deathproof and Morpheus. More details coming soon, so stay tuned!
