Organizers of the annual Wacken Open Air Festival – one of the world's largest music gatherings devoted exclusively to heavy metal artists and their fans – announced that all 70,000 tickets have been sold for the event's special 20th anniversary celebration taking place on January 8. According to event organizers, this represents the fastest ticket blitz in the event's history.
Fortunately, those willing to make the exodus to Germany can still make it for the regular 2009 Wacken show, scheduled for July 30 through August 1. The band lineup for the summer festival continues to expand, and currently features Amon Amarth, Bullet for My Valentine, Dragonforce, GWAR, In Flames, Machine Head, Motorhead, Napalm Death, Nevermore, Tristania and Walls of Jericho. More band announcements and are forthcoming at the organizer's official site.
