The second half of season two of The Walking Dead hasn't even started yet (look for it on AMC, Sundays at 9pm starting February 12th) but the cabler has already announced their plans for season three. Details after the jump.
Season one had six episodes, and was originally envisioned as a mini-series (until it became one of the highest-rated series in cable history). Season two came along with 13 episodes, divided up into two "midseasons." AMC announced over the weekend that season three will launch with a whopping 16 episodes. Before you know it, AMC will do the unthinkable and order a full 22-episode season! (I remember the days when a full season was 24 episodes... sigh).
Anyway, no further details have emerged about season three, other than it will premiere in the fourth quarter of 2012 (most likely in October to coincide with Halloween).
