It's not hard to imagine a Mega-Wasp vs. Giant Tarantula movie in the works at some point (we're just speculating here, but you know Roger Corman's always on the lookout for new material). In this story, however, the gruesome dance of death you're about to see comes straight out of nature.
We've told you before about the horrific habits of certain species of wasp (like this one, which turns cockroaches into zombies), but the tarantula hawk, of the family Pompilidae, may be the most ruthless of them all. As you probably figured out, she's big enough to fight a large tarantula – which she will even seek out deep in its burrow.
If the spider loses this hideous death match (it often does) and falls victim to the hawk's paralyzing stinger, it will then become food for her larva, which dines on the victim while it's still nice and fresh... and alive, of course. The young ones even avoid eating the spider's vital organs, so that it stays alive longer. Basically, the wasp and her offspring are a xenomorph torture tag-team.
The following clip is pretty damn disturbing... but you knew that already, right?
