Like a lot of you I was skeptical when I first heard about Silent House. "Great," I thought, "another unnecessary remake of a foreign film. And it stars the Olsen twins' kid sister..." But I gotta admit everything we've seen so far looks pretty good. There's a clear intent on the part of the filmmakers to scare the crap out of audiences (always a good thing for a horror film, but something a surprising number of people forget); and OIsen, aside from being drop-dead beautiful, has the kind of lived-in face and old-soul eyes that are nothing short of startling for someone who just celebrated her 23rd birthday. Plus, she's a classically trained actress who's been getting strong reviews for her work in Martha Marcy May Marlene (her other indie thriller). To help prep yourself for Silent House's release on March 9th, check out a new clip from the film after the jump.
Here's the official synopsis for the film: "Silent House is a uniquely unsettling horror thriller starring Elizabeth Olsen as Sarah, a young woman who finds herself sealed inside her family's secluded lake house. With no contact to the outside world, and no way out, panic turns to terror as events become increasingly ominous in and around the house. Directed by filmmaking duo Chris Kentis and Laura Lau, Silent House uses meticulous camera choreography to take the audience on a tension-filled, real time journey, experienced in a single uninterrupted shot."
