Yoshihiro Nishimura, makeup FX maestro and creator of the outrageous horror comedies Tokyo Gore Police and Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl, is back with another over-the-top feature: the “zom-com” anthology Zombie TV.
A collection of live-action and animated shorts, mock instructional videos and other surreal oddities, Zombie TV mimics the format of late-night TV channel surfing to show “the natural evolution of zombies in the 21st century,” depicting the undead not as dangerous monsters but as more of a day-to-day annoyance. It also offers some unique answers to long-standing questions like “How did zombies evolve from walkers into runners?” and “How do zombies have sex?” The anthology marks the first team-up between Nishimura, up-and-coming director Naoya Tashiro (Hell of the College Girls), and Manga artist/animator Maelie Makuno.
