We Talk 'New Moon' with Dakota Fanning!

Determined to strengthen her ties to our favorite genre beyond co-starring in Robert DeNiro's worst horror film and sharing a name with the creepiest hotel in history (well, next to the Overlook that is), Dakota Fanning may soon be starring as not-so-nice vampire Jane in the Twilight sequel New Moon. While chatting with Fanning at the recent Los Angeles press junket for Coraline (for which she voices the title character), we asked the starlet if the rumors were true. Hit the jump to see what she told us. And, for added fun, count the number of times the tween thespian says "cool"!

"Yeah, it's not just a rumor, it's true. And I hope that it does work out. It's not a hundred-percent sure. I can't say it's for sure yet. But it would be really cool if it does work out. I'm a big fan."

When we asked if she'd read all the books in the Twilight series, Fanning replied, "I haven't read all of them yet. But I'm getting there. It's such a cool series and I'm a big fan of the cast. So it would be really cool to be a part of. I hope it works out... I think it would be really cool to do something different than I've ever done before. I mean, a vampire – it's really neat. She's kind of evil and mean, the character that I would be playing. So it would be a fun opportunity."
