Wii U Launch Lineup Revealed—Horror Fans Rejoice!

Nintendo’s family-friendly Wii, which transcended video game norms to become the greatest bowling simulator your grandma every played, had a surprising number of niche titles that appealed to a more adult set.  Games like SEGA’s gore-soaked Madworld and House of the Dead: Overkill rubbed shoulders with the likes of Super Mario Galaxy and Imagine Party Babyz to deliver a surprising amount of quality thrills for horror fans.

Now, it looks like the Wii U will be continuing that dark and winding road right from its launch date on November 18th, with three of its 22 launch titles fit to scratch your dark itch.

Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition – While I really didn’t need an excuse to replay WB Games’ awesome Batman: Arkham City, the Armored Edition promises a slew of new Wii U-centric features to enhance the gameplay, including the ability to use the GamePad as a Batcomputer.  If I have to explain any further why this is awesome, you’re on the wrong site.

Darksiders 2 – The Death-oriented sequel to the goofy-fun Darksiders brings the world’s most metal protagonist to the Wii U, complete with some added DLC and the ability to use the Wii U’s touchscreen-enabled GamePad to bring up the game’s map and inventory without stumbling through a pause-screen menu.

ZombiU – The awkwardly-titled true exclusive of the bunch (how do you say it?  Zombie-you?  Zom-byoo?) promises a unique twist on the putrefying zombie genre with features like permanent death and—you guessed it—additional interactive functionality via the GamePad like motion detection and security hacking as you try to escape a zombie-infested London.

There’s also Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which while not as relevant as the other three titles, still promises the Call of Duty-standard Zombies mode as a horrific side dish.  Hopefully this is just a taste of terrifying things to come for the new console.  Thanks to G4 for the launch lineup!
