Symphonic-metal band Within Temptation have unveiled the next chapter in the saga of The Unforgiving, a concept album based on comic book characters created by Steven O'Connell (BloodRayne, Dark 48) and illustrated by Romano Molenaar (X-Men, Witchblade, Lady Death). Their latest offering is the short film Mother Maiden, the first of three planned mini-movies drawing on the dark fantasy world of the comic and album. We've got the thole thing on the flipside, so hit the jump and check it out...
Earlier this week the band released the video for the new single “Faster” on the official site of UK music mag Kerrang! They followed up shortly after with Mother Maiden, a surreal and noir-inspired tale that introduces more of the story's main characters – including the mysterious woman of the title, a centuries-old matriarch whose ghostly minions, including the comic's main character Sinead Harkin and a team of creepy cannibal kids, slaughter evildoers around the world.
The black & white film is visually stunning, and it's followed by a performance clip for “Faster,” which shows off the band's new '80s-influenced sound. It's a pretty big departure from their gothic-metal roots, so it should be interesting to see how fans respond, but one thing that hasn't changed is the amazing voice of frontwoman Sharon den Adel... and she's insanely gorgeous too, so that's another incentive to check this one out.
