News Article

While walking through the exhibit hall of WonderCon 2011 yesterday here in San Francisco, I spotted a very small, very familiar face -- that of Victor Crowley, the serial-killing "swamp monster" of director Adam Green's Hatchet films. It turns out that a pair of special effects makeup artists have been granted permission to create an official Hatchet mini-bust in the form of Crowley. After the jump, check out the full photo I took of this upcoming statue.
First, let's look at the model sculpt that was created by web comic artist and sculptor Josh Dunlap, who's partnered with makeup effects artist Robert Pendergraft, the makeup effects coordinator on Hatchet and makeup effects department head on Hatchet II (as well as the film's creature and makeup effects supervisor). Pendergraft's company Aunt Dolly's Garage will be releasing the bust.

Pretty sweet, eh? Now here's the painted prototype that was unveiled here at WonderCon. Dunlap told me that this is not how the final paints for the mini-bust will appear; this prototype was created merely to give some idea of what to expect.

Dunlap (picture below) told me that the bust won't be numbered, but won't be produced in huge quantities either. So fans may have to act fast to catch Crowley if they want to proudly display him alongside their Freddy and Jason mini-busts. Kudos to Dulap and Pendergraft for filling a void in my collection that I didn't even realize needed filling!
