This week: vampires. Each contestant must select a stake from a coffin. On each stake is engraved the name of an international vampire-like creature. The contestants must create a vampire inspired by the legend they have chosen, and add in an “extreme functionality” that is atypical of vampires

The contestants each select a profession. They must create the robot that has taken their place in the industry. In addition, each creation must display a functional moving part. The contestants have four days for this challenge to allow for the extra time fabrication requires.

The contestants each select a strand of mutated DNA. After they choose, they find out what their mutation is (think X-Men) and work with a digital artist to make their sketches. Makeup artist Valli O’Reilly is the guest judge.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the contestants are each given a briefly described but never seen creature that lives in a jungle, preying on Oompa Loompas. Dahl’s daughter, Lucy Dahl, is the guest judge.

The spotlight challenge pairs the contestants (they get to pick their own partner) and asks them to create a rock god. Each team selects a guitar, creates an extreme rock star to go with it, and literally fuse the rock god with his guitar.
