Exclusive Introduction by Writer/Director Ashley Thorpe

Ashley Thorpe serves up another stunning mix of animation and live action in this award winning film.

Set after the First World War, ‘The Screaming Skull’ is a gothic story of ancestral anxieties, hereditary madness and ghosts that won’t be put to rest. Drawing upon such influences as M.R. James and the Amicus movies of the 1970’s, ‘The

Screaming Skull’ is a quintessential British horror film.

Though certainly not to everyone's liking (especially those with a short attention span) this is a really interesting and - ironically - quiet animation. The style is a weird variation of rotoscope which fits the material really well and the score / sound is fantastic, especially in the last sequence. Would have liked to have seen perhaps a better quality copy but loved the style and found some of the concepts in the story really quite disturbing...not an easy fix but fascinating and rewarding for those who like their horror to have a little more resonance.
