Another 10 horror toys that no fan’s collection should be without!
I don't know about you guys, but I am beyond stoked for the return of 'Bates Motel' on A&E, which kicks off its 2nd Season on March 3rd. As a die-hard Psycho fanatic (hell, I made a documentary about the entire original franchise), the funnest part of the show for me has been seeing what direction they take this new version of the story. By setting it in modern day and changing a few key aspects from the original movie, they've already created a unique new mythology and universe for these characters to flourish in. And because of that, anything goes!
Each of the killers comes equipped with their own weapon of choice, Jack Torrance clutching his trusty axe and You're Next's Fox Mask brandishing a deadly crossbow.
Long before Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga slipped into the roles of Norman and Norma Bates, there was another TV pilot titled 'The Bates Motel' from 1987 and after years of floating in obscurity and only being available on the bootleg market, it's finally been given a quiet DVD release via Universal's "Vault Series".
We here at FEARnet are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of producer Hilton A. Green yesterday at the age of 84. His father Alfred E. Green was a legendary director in his own right, but Hilton worked his way up as an assistant director for several popular television shows including Alfred Hitchcock Presents, which led to him working as first A.D on the original 'Psycho' and later 'Marnie.'
Freddie Highmore visits the orginal Psycho house at Universal Studios for the first time, only to find someone other than himself as Norman Bates in this Comic-Con exclusive video.
A talented artist worked up these ideas for Minimates of Norman Bates, Marion Crane, and of course good old “Mother.” Take a look!
The second and third chapters in the cinematic saga of Norman Bates (and “Mother,” of course) get the Collector's Edition treatment this fall!
On top of Killer POV (with FEARnet's own Rob Galluzzo, Rebekah McKendry from Fangoria and Elric Kane from Inside Horror) and The Movie Crypt (with Holliston's Adam Green and Joe Lynch), there's also The Bloodcast hosted by Shock Till You Drop's Ryan Turek and which focuses primarily on horror television. Well, the big news in horror TV this week was the recently aired season finale for 'Bates Motel.'
